What is Exfoliation?
- It is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin
- Skin cells naturally shed every 28 days, but due to increased pollution, overuse of cosmetic products and not washing our skin thoroughly twice a day, it slows down the natural process

The benefits of Exfoliation
- Helps to prevent clogged pores, resulting in fewer breakouts
- Regular exfoliating can increase collagen production for glowing, vibrant skin
- Promotes skin elasticity to minimize the appearance of fine lines
- It assists skincare products like serums and creams to penetrate better
- It evens skin tone
- It boosts circulation
How often should you exfoliate?
Ideally you should exfoliate once or twice a week at home.
You could use a granular or enzymatic exfoliator.
It does not matter if you exfoliate in the morning or the evening.
However, it’s a good idea to exfoliate in the evening as it allows skin to absorb all the product/s and it aids in renewing skin during the night.
Professional resurfacing or exfoliating Peels
- Dr Gobac® Bellanova Peel is a chemical resurfacing treatment that uses AHA’s, BHA’s and fruit acids

Exfoliation tips
- Do not over-exfoliate, although it is tempting to have bright, smooth and glowing skin every day

- Don’t exfoliate after chemical peels or professional resurfacing treatments
- Don’t apply too much pressure when exfoliating with a granular exfoliator
